Luxembourg will be represented at the 2027 Academy Awards in the Best International Feature category by Child, the debut feature film from director Cyrus Neshvad. The film has also been selected as Luxembourg’s entry for the 'Best European Feature' at the Goya Awards, Spain’s most prestigious film prize. The decision was made by a selection committee of the Luxembourg Film Academy.

One of the main criteria for the selection, according to the Film Academy, was the collaboration between creative and technical professionals from Luxembourg. The committee highlighted the expertise and know-how that characterises the entire national film industry. In addition, the Academy emphasised the diversity of stories, worlds, and approaches found in local productions.

Director Cyrus Neshvad is already known for a series of acclaimed short films. Notably, his short La Valise rouge (The Red Suitcase) was nominated for Best Live Action Short Film at the 2023 Oscars. With a runtime of 78 minutes, 'Child' is his first feature-length film. The film celebrated its world premiere at the Raindance Film Festival in 2026 and is set to be released in Luxembourg cinemas this September.

The 99th edition of the Oscars will be held on 14 March in Los Angeles. The date for the next Goya Awards has yet to be announced.
