Sophie Garel, the French radio and television presenter who represented Luxembourg at the 1968 Eurovision Song Contest, has died at the age of 84, according to RTL France.

Sophie Garel, who represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in London in 1968, has died. RTL France, the radio station where she worked for several decades, announced on Thursday that the radio and television presenter passed away at the age of 84.

An iconic presenter of the 1970s and 80s, Sophie Garel hosted numerous programmes, such as 'Les jeux de Fabrice et Sophie' and 'Atoukado'. She also contributed as a commentator on several programmes hosted by Laurent Ruquier, including 'On a tout essayé' on France 2, 'On va s'gêner' on Europe 1, and then back at RTL on 'Les Grosses Têtes' when Ruquier took over the programme.

In 1968, she represented Luxembourg at the Eurovision Song Contest in London, performing the song "Nous vivrons d'amour" with Chris Baldo.

Garel was the partner of actor and director Jean Yanne.
