The Offspring, formed in Garden Grove, California in 1984, are one of punk rock’s most enduring acts. Credited with helping bring punk back into the mainstream in the mid-1990s, they have sold over 45 million albums and released more than ten studio records.
Their success helped bridge the gap between the underground punk scene and mainstream radio, influencing a new generation of pop-punk bands.
Originally formed under the name Manic Subsidal, The Offspring's line-up features lead vocalist and guitarist Bryan "Dexter" Holland, who completed a Ph.D. in molecular biology in 2017 and guitarist Kevin "Noodles" Wasserman, who worked as a janitor during the band's early years before joining full-time.
They are joined by bassist Todd Morse, multi-instrumentalist Jonah Nimoy, and drummer Brandon Pertzborn.
Their breakthrough came in 1994 with the release of their third studio album, Smash. Driven by hits such as Come Out and Play and Self Esteem, the album became the best-selling independent release of all time and helped define punk rock for a new generation.
Back with our first episode of season 3, we are kicking things off with the enormous smash (sorry) hit from The Offspring… Self Esteem.
The Offspring are currently on their extensive Supercharged world tour, supporting their 2024 album of the same name.
Fans and critics alike consider this eleventh studio album in the band's 42-year career to be a return to form – mixing old-school Offpsring sounds with newer, pop-punk oriented stylings.
Following a run of major European festival appearances, the California punk veterans will bring their decades-spanning catalogue to Luxembourg, delivering everything from Smash classics to tracks from their latest release at Luxexpo Open-Air.
