1. The City in movement

What: Fête de la Musique

If you are yet to experience the delights of Luxembourg City's Fête de la musique, then this weekend is a must! The capital is brimming with concerts scattered across 15 separate stages, from the Gare and Grund to the Gëlle Fra, the City will be alive at every turn. From international acts like Boko Yout to local legends like de Läb and TUYS, the event covers all genres and there is something for everybody. All stages are free to access, so get yourself down!

2. Shakespeare in a castle

What: See Macbeth performed at a medieval castle
Where: Koerich Castle

Koerich castle, with its haunting, medieval vibe is the ideal setting for a Shakespeare performance – but no ordinary performance. One of his most famous, classic tragedies, Macbeth, will be brought to life within its walls. The story of a brave Scottish general and his quest to seize the throne will be told to the ideal backdrop for an eerie, sometimes supernatural tale. Tickets are being sold for €35 at the door but if you order online then it is €30. It is sure to be an unforgettable experience.

3. Francofolies

What: Luxembourg's premier French music festival
Where: Parc du Gaalgebierg, Esch-sur-Alzette

Esch-sur-Alzette will transform into a beacon of French music over the weekend, with some of the biggest stars the nation has to offer coming to the Grand Duchy. This year, a non-French headliner is garnering the most buzz, namely Macklemore. Some of France's most iconic stars will grace the stage in Esch this weekend: Gims, Niska, Feu! Chatteron, and Miki (who was raised in Luxembourg) to name but a few.

4. European Archaeology Days

What: Discover Luxembourg's archaeology
Where: Across the country

Luxembourg has a rich but little-known archaeological heritage and the European Archaeology Days aim to highlight this with a weekend of organised events. With activities across the whole nation, from Grevenmacher to Echternach, you can discover the traces of the people and cultures that once shaped our land. 5. Medieval festival

What: Luxembourg in medieval times
Where: Useldange Castle

One of Luxembourg's most beautiful castles will be turned into a medieval centre for a weekend, reviving the old ruins into a vibrant place full of festivities. You can expect carpentry, fire shows, knights, reenactments, children's activities, and medieval food and drink. It's an annual festival that delivers every single year, with markets and cosplayers creating a true medieval feel.

6. A 2000s classic

What: Watch the Departed at the cinema, two decades after it premiered.
Where: Cinémathèque Luxembourg

The four-time Oscar-winning film, directed by the legendary Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, and Mark Wahlberg, will be shown on the big screen once again. Starting at 10am, the two-and-a-half-hour Academy Award-winning thriller is guaranteed to fly by. If you have not been to the cinémathèque at the Théâtre des Capucins, then now is your chance.

7. Train your palate

What: Olive oil tasting
Where: Boutique Les Templiers de Provence, Walferdange

If none of the aforementioned events speak to you, then maybe something a little more peculiar will! Mediterranean people swear by it and claim it is the reason for their long lifespans (don't shoot the messenger). Olive oil is a way of life over there. Learn about and taste different types of olive oil at the Boutique Les Templiers de Provence in Walferdange.
