
11 PCR tests developed by different companies are currently approved in Luxembourg, Paulette Lenert specified, in response to an urgent parliamentary question by ADR deputies Fernand Kartheiser and Jeff Engelen.
Regarding the reliability of PCR tests, all results are verified by laboratories as prescribed by the ISO standard.
The Department of Health also monitors the the number of positive cases on a daily basis from all laboratories in order to check for any unexplained differences between them, writes the minister. The PCR test remains a reliable method to detect the virus.
Paulette Lenert also points out that all Luxembourg laboratories carrying out Covid-19 PCR tests have participated in external quality control, as recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
The first tests, which had been carried out in Luxembourg, were also verified by an external laboratory in Germany or the Netherlands.
