A total of 700 students and teachers tested positive for Coronavirus over the last week. These are similar numbers to the previous week, meaning the situation remains stable, the Ministry of Education confirms.
Most of these cases - 426 - were of a single infection in a class. The assumption in these cases is that the infection happened outside of school, e.g. at home, and only the child concerned is quarantined.
99 infections were "type 3", with 3 to 5 cases within one class.
One secondary school had an infection chain with a total of 13 cases. One teacher had already tested positive the previous week. As a result, 7 classes were separated from the rest of the school, and 7 were quarantined. When all of these were tested, a further 11 cases were found among students and two among teachers.
Secondary schools had slightly more cases than primary schools. 8 cases were found in competency centres.
