PoliticsADR MP Gast Gibéryen to step down in favour of fellow party member Fred Keup

RTL Today
Alternative Democratic Reform Party (ADR) MP Gast Gibéryen told Radio 100,7 that he will not remain an MP for the full legislative period on Wednesday morning.

The politician explained he wanted to make space for party colleague Fred Keup to move into politics. Gibéryen is standing as a candidate in Sunday's European elections and, as MPs cannot have a second mandate as an MEP at the same time, vowed that if he were to be elected, he would step down as an MP in Luxembourg's Chamber of Deputies.

However, if Gibéryen is not elected as an MEP on Sunday, the 68-year-old confirmed that he would resign before the next legislative elections in order to allow his younger colleague to take his place. Gibéryen did not say when this would happen.
