The new police code of ethics, which was presented on Friday morning, contains rules which currently exist and were already respected but required regrouping in a specific place according to the director general of the police, Philippe Schrantz.
The general inspectorate of the police therefore developed the 17 principles present in the code, in collaboration with the police unions, management, the ministry and an external adviser to ensure a neutral position.
These principles are based on loyalty and neutrality, data protection, the protection of people and finally on the denunciation of dysfunctions and abuses within the police.
The Minister of Internal Security François Bausch said, however, that the code was still "in the works" and that it would be constantly updated.
