Going by the recorded data, the researchers based their calculations on an estimated 563 new cases of coronavirus per day, a figure that seems to be slightly decreasing but remains high. According to the researchers, the situation remained very unstable and thus the new measures were needed.
The effective reproduction rate also fell slightly, standing at 0.98 on Friday, i.e. one positive person infects on average slightly less than one other person.
Should the current trend be confirmed, then the number of infections would continue to slowly decrease over time. However, the task force pointed out that this model and the calculations only reflected the social behaviour of citizens up until 25 November. The new measures and their influence on the general public's behaviour had not yet been taken into account. The researchers stressed that people's behaviour could influence the situation in both directions.
A significant change in regard to the new report is that it is based solely on case data from residents. Previous reports had also taken coronavirus infections among non-residents into account.
The report does not comment on why this change was made.
