Delhaize has warned customers to return its own-brand product "Filet de canard cuit fumé 90gr" (smoked duck fillet), where the best before date is 9 June 2019.
A quality control test revealed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes.
Delhaize has cleared the remaining product from the shelves and reinforced quality checks on all products from the supplier. Any customers who have purchased the product are asked not to consume it, instead returning it to the store where it was purchased for a guaranteed refund.
Other duck products are not affected and can be consumed as normal. Delhaize has apologised for any inconvenience caused.
What to do if the product has been consumed?
Customers suffering from fever or headache after eating the product should consult their doctor.
Pregnant women, people with low immunity, the elderly and children should pay particular attention to any symptoms, as listeria can have serious implications.
