DudelangeDrunk boyfriend nicks woman's car - without driver's licence

RTL Today
Friday night around 3am, a woman alerted police after her inebriated boyfriend took her car without her consent. He also did not have a valid driver's licence.

The woman told police that she planned on lodging a complaint against her boyfriend and, when officers arrived, immediately told them that he was not even in possession of a driver's licence. He also took his partner's credit cards without asking her.

Shortly after police started looking for the culprit, he was caught during a routine traffic check on Rue de Luxembourg in Esch-sur-Alzette. There were two other people in the car and the driver tested positive for alcohol.

The public prosecutor's office was notified and ordered an investigation.

Other drug and alcohol-related incidents

Police were also busy in other parts of the country on Friday night. Around 9.40pm, a drunk driver did not yield to a pedestrian who tried to cross the street at a zebra crossing on Rue Pierre Krier in Bonnevoie.

Police also searched a car in Bereldange after they detected the smell of marijuana. They seized a small quantity of the drug and found that the driver had already previously been banned from driving.

Around 2.30am, police pulled over a car that was swerving and driving on the sidewalk in Dudelange. The blood alcohol levels of the driver were significantly over the legal maximum.

Police caught another drunk driver around 4am at the Friedhaff roundabout.
