He initially tried escaping the scene, but officers stopped the van soon after in Belair. By that time, police already received note that the respective vehicle was stolen from a petrol station in Steinfort. They also found that the driver was intoxicated, lacked a valid driving license, and had already received several driving bans.
Officers issued yet another ban and arrested the man by order of the prosecutor’s office. The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
Police further report that a scooter was stolen in Mersch on Thursday morning, but that the vehicle could be located soon after. The thief tried escaping officers, but ended up hitting a road sign.
Both alcohol and drug test came back positive. Police informed the prosecutor’s office and arrested the man, who later had to face an examining magistrate.
