Etihad Airways officially landed in Luxembourg for the first time on Wednesday, marking the occasion at Findel Airport with a traditional water salute.
The United Arab Emirates-based airline is now the first carrier from the Middle East to serve Luxembourg with non-stop flights.
The new service connects Luxembourg to Abu Dhabi on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Etihad deploys its Airbus A321LR on this route, offering 144 seats in Economy, 14 in Business Class, and two First Suites for added comfort.
The direct connection is designed not only to make travel to the UAE capital more convenient, but also to provide new onward connections to destinations further afield.
Through Abu Dhabi, passengers from Luxembourg can now seamlessly connect to cities such as Bangkok, Tokyo, Sydney, and Colombo.
Alexander Flassak, CEO of lux-Airport, welcomed the new route, highlighting its significance for Luxembourg as well as neighbouring countries.
He emphasised that the direct link to Abu Dhabi offers enhanced travel options for residents and passengers from the surrounding region.
A special report on the new route will be broadcast in Wednesday evening’s edition of the Journal on RTL Télé Lëtzebuerg.
