The project includes plans to develop student accommodation and an adult education centre, with the possibility to organise large cultural events. But before any plans come to fruition, the former industrial site requires major work, including asbestos removal and roof repairs.
As the steelworks form part of southern Luxembourg’s industrial heritage, elements of the original building must be preserved. Bausch said the plans would be part of an ad hoc bill due to be voted on during the current period of legislature.
