PoliceHeroin, marijuana, and drunk drivers

RTL Today
The police has reported two arrests in relation to drug offenses. Drunk driving has also been an issue again on Saturday night.

In the first case, officers initially just hoped to chat with the owner of a small motorcycle as its registration plate displayed some irregularities. The owner was not home but a family member let the officers into the home. Inside, they were greeted by the smell of cannabis and they found several small bags containing the drug in an open backpack.

Following a court order, the premises were searched. The findings included more than 100 grams of marijuana, 70 grams off hashish, illegal weapons and mobile phones. The man was arrested and presented to the coroner.

In the second case, police were conducting a routine check at a bar on rue de Strasbourg in Luxembourg City. They noticed that one man was overly eager to get away when he saw the officers. The suspect was found to carry heroin.

Once again, the Court ordered a search of his home. At his home address, officers found 20 grams of heroin, cash, phones and drug paraphernalia. All of this was confiscated, the man was arrested and faced a coroner on Sunday morning.

Drunk driving streak continues

A number of drivers had consumed a few drinks too many during Saturday night, police said. Two people - one in Belvaux and one in Dudelange - had caused accidents and material damage but decided to flee the scene on foot. Police located both of them and confiscated their licenses.

In Mamer, a driver drew attention to himself with his eccentric driving style. Alcohol was a factor, and the driver was forced to hand over his license.

Another motorist was swerving in Troisvierges. When police officers checked the man's driving documents, they found that he had already been banned from driving.
