Clervaux bypassHow far along is the construction site?

RTL Today
The new Irbich viaduct is 265 metres long, stands on six pillars and is almost finished. In February, construction will start on the road going across the new bridge.

A new bypass is currently being built to relieve bus and lorry traffic passing through the city of Clervaux in the north of Luxembourg. The construction is expected to give residents increased quality of life while also making the city more attractive to tourism.

The new bypass, which includes a roundabout and a new viaduct, will be 4 kilometres long, going from the Marnich plateau to the cloistral city of Clervaux.

About 10,000 vehicles are expected to go through the Clervaux bypass each day.

The the surrounding nature and the geological make-up of the site makes the undertaking quite difficult, but the bypass is expected to open to traffic in the summer of 2022.

The project will come in at a whopping €73 million - €40 million more than originally planned.
