Recent natural catastrophes and the culmination of one of the earth’s warmest decades, according to statistics, show how Luxembourg is affected by climate change. The devastating floods in July, and the poor state of the Duchy’s forests are just two examples of the environmental effects on the country.

The “Klima Expo” event is designed to present common efforts in the global fight against climate change, as well as the part that Luxembourg can play in the countdown to 2050.

The country’s flora and fauna will struggle to cope with the change in climate, with the risk of some species either disappearing or moving to other regions. It is not implausible to consider that certain Mediterranean species could make their way to Luxembourg in the future.

The climate conference, which is free to attend, focuses on producing clean energy, through wind and solar power. It offers information on citizens’ initiatives, as well as workshops and a “Climate Countdown - the road to 2050" exhibit.
