Luxembourg travellers are facing major disruptions on Friday as two separate strike actions combine to wreak havoc on the flight schedule at Findel Airport.
Lufthansa cabin crew have walked out until 10pm on Friday evening, after collective bargaining negotiations over improved working conditions failed to make progress. Hundreds of flights have already been cancelled across Germany, with departures and arrivals at Frankfurt and Munich most heavily affected, alongside Cologne-Bonn, Düsseldorf, and Berlin.
Around 20,000 cabin crew members work for Lufthansa.
Several routes to and from Luxembourg have been cancelled as a result. The Friday morning flight to Frankfurt, scheduled for 8.20am, did not operate, nor did the 9:40am and nor will the 4.45pm services to Munich. Inbound flights have been equally affected, with the 9.05am arrival from Munich failing to land in Luxembourg, and the 4.10pm service also cancelled.
The industrial action in Italy has added further complications. A strike by Italian air traffic controllers has resulted in the cancellation of the 12.20pm flight to Pescara and the 2.40pm service to Milan-Linate.
