This September, more cars were registered in the EU than in the same month last year, reaching a 9% increase. 971,000 vehicles were newly registered, of which 290,000 were purely electric cars, according to figures provided by the industry association ACEA on Thursday.
Hybrid models continue to dominate the market, while petrol and diesel models are less in demand.
However, this trend differs for Luxembourg. 3,537 new cars were registered in the Grand Duchy this September, a slight decrease on the previous year.
1,331 of the new vehicles are purely electric, making up the largest percentage, even slightly more than all hybrid variants combined.
Meanwhile, only 195 new cars still run on diesel. 705 are petrol-powered.
