At a press conernece in Paris on Tuesday 17 December, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) announced the names of more than 110 exoplanets and their stars.
Over 110 countries entered the 'competition', requesting public participation and inviting proposals as part of the IAU100 campaign "Name an Exoplanet".
From the twelve pairs of names put forward in Luxembourg, a pre-selection of three pairs of names was submitted to a public vote among visitors to the Science Festival (November 2019)
The Lycée classique d'Echternach's 3eB class ultimately won out, meeting the required informations and, thus, star HD 45350 (of the Coachman constellation, located 160 light years from our Sun), is now known asThe giant gas exoplanet that orbits Lucilinburhuc has been named Peitruss after the Pétrusse river that once flowed around the fortress.
