On Saturday, a memorial ceremony was held in Eschdorf in honour of Manuela "Manu" Dondelinger, the 48-year-old marshal who died following an accident at the European Hillrace.
Manuela Dondelinger's family and friends were joined by people from the motorsport world in Luxembourg in Eschdorf. Around a hundred people gathered at the town hall at 4pm, before making a 900-metre pilgrimage to the site of the accident.
During the race, Dondelinger and her husband, Joel Thill, were assigned to track post 9.
Thill said: "We were a dream team. Lots of organisers asked us to lend a hand for motorsport events."
But the grief is accompanied by calls for justice. Thill blames the organisers for the position of the track post, as in previous years it was further down the hill.
Other mourners at the memorial who had participated in the race as drivers or officials also confirmed the post had always been positioned elsewhere down the hill in past races.
The Diekirch prosecutor's office is investigating the circumstances of the accident, including possible involuntary manslaughter charges. The racing car involved has been seized by the authorities.
