The social elections have a larger voter base than legislative elections, as employees living in Luxembourg and across the border are equally entitled to vote, as are retired people.

In total, around 526,000 employees and pensioners have the right to elect 60 delegates for the Chamber of Employees in the nine different groups.

The more significant the participation, the more power the Chamber of Employees has
The number of people eligible to vote in this year's social elections is around 50,000 more than five years ago. In the last social election, the participation rate was on the lower end at 33%. All of those involved in organising the social elections are keen to mobilise employees to vote in order for the Chamber of Employees to truly represent the interests of employees.

By the end of this week, letters about the election should be ready to be posted. According to Minister for Labour, Employment, and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Dan Kersch, all potential voters should have received their letters with information. Those who may not have received anything can raise the issue up until 14 February.

Staff representatives in 3,806 businesses

Alongside the Chamber of Employees elections, companies with at least 15 employees have to have elections to choose staff representatives. 3,806 companies have been contacted by the authorities to remind them of this obligation.

The new digitisation of the administrative procedure allows the authorities and the Inspectorate of Labour and Mines (ITM) to monitor that each company has made these elections possible, but will also ensure that results are published the day after.
