KiischpeltMunicipality buys up properties to create affordable housing

RTL Today
The municipality of Kiischpelt has existed for 15 years, coming into existence after both Wilwerwiltz and Kautenbach decided to fuse.

Seven villages are now part of the municipality, which currently counts around 1,200 residents. Municipal officials are extremely aware of housing issues in the Grand Duchy and are thus actively working on concrete solutions.

Two houses were recently acquired, the first one the site of a former café. The building has already been taken down to allow for the construction of affordable housing, but the project still needs to be approved by an architect.

The second property will make room for an apartment building, managed by the municipality and rented out at reasonable prices.

Elsewhere in Kiischpelt, six building areas were sold to the Housing Fund, which also intends to create more affordable housing options in the municipality.

Local officials believe that the municipality should retain enough properties to allow for construction projects at any moment. However, they also underline that there is no desire for the municipality to grow overly quick and lose its charm.
