A fellow passenger observed two pickpockets stealing from an elderly man on board a tram in the capital on Wednesday and alerted the police.
One of the suspects distracted their victim, while their accomplice attempted to snatch the man's backpack.
The police were able to apprehend one of the suspects at the Place de la Gare tram stop some time later, but were unable to locate the second suspect. An investigation has been opened.
