A number of modifications to traffic circulation and parking will be put in place for the funeral on Saturday 4 May.

TRAFFIC

The following roads will be closed to traffic from 6pm on Thursday 2 May  until 6pm on Saturday 4 May:

  • Rue Notre-Dame (the stretch between Rue de l’ancien Athénée and Rue du Fossé),
  • Rue du Fossé,
  • Côte d’Eich (extension of Rue du Fossé until the junction with Rue du Nord),
  • Rue de l’Eau,
  • Rue de la Boucherie and Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes (the stretch between Côte d’Eich and Rue de la Boucherie) will be closed to all traffic due to stands which will be put in place.

The following roads will be closed to traffic from 6am to 6pm on 4 May (no parking from 6pm on Friday 3 May to 6pm on Saturday):

  • Rue Aldringen,
  • Rue Notre-Dame,
  • Boulevard F.D. Roosevelt,
  • Place de la Constitution,
  • Rue de l’ancien Athénée,
  • Rue de la Congrégation,
  • Rue du Fossé,
  • Côte d’Eich (extension of Rue du Fossé until the junction with Rue du Nord),
  • Rue du Marché-aux-Herbes (stretch between Rue du Fossé and Rue de la Boucherie, and from Rue de l’Eau to Rue du St. Esprit),
  • Rue de la Boucherie,
  • Rue Sigefroi,
  • Rue de l’Eau,
  • Rue Large,
  • Rue de la Corniche,
  • Rue du St. Esprit

Also note that Place de la Constitution will also be closed to parking from 6pm on 3 May until 29 May to allow for the Octave market.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

The capital's bus routes (1 to 33) will be free to use on Saturday, as well as the tram and certain RGTR national routes. Members of staff will be deployed to guide passengers.

Bus route 17 will run every ten minutes between 8.03am to 3.03pm to allow people to use the Bouillon park and ride. The same applies for bus route 21, which will run to the Luxembourg Sud park and ride in Hesperange.

CFL has announced the postponement of engineering works originally planned for the weekend between Luxembourg-Sandweiler-Contern and Luxembourg-Dommeldange.

PARKING

The Théâtre, Royal-Hamilius and Monterey car parks will be accessible all day Saturday 4 May.

The Knuedler car park will be closed to all users from 7.30am to 2pm on Saturday 4 May. 

The Saint-Esprit car park will be inaccessible from 7.30am to 2pm on Saturday 4 May, with exceptions for paid members from the viaduct. Exits will be accessible all day in the direction of the R.Konen tunnel.

The Place de l’Europe car park near the tram stop « Philharmonie/MUDAM » will be free to use on Saturday until it closes at 11.30pm ; the Stade car park close to the bus stop « Stade » is free to use on Saturdays.
