A serious accident occurred at around 12.30pm on Friday on the CR226 between Kontern and Itzig. A young driver lost control of his car. He hit a tree before coming to a halt in a ditch. The violence of the impact saw the engine catapulted out of the car.
The crash left two people injured. Both of them were reportedly responsive after the accident. They were transported to the hospital. CGDIS emergency teams from Luxembourg City, Hesperange, and Sandweiler were at the scene.
The road remains closed to traffic. Police are currently investigating the reasons of the accident. A segment of the road was reportedly slippery.
Drivers are reminded that it is prohibited to drive on the CR226 if the road is covered by snow or black ice.
