Poll - Women's healthShould women get two days of menstruation leave?

RTL Today
A petition calling for two days off work per month surpassed the necessary minimum of 4,500 signatures within a short period of time.

The Chamber of Deputies is set to address the issue on Wednesday. In the petition, the author wrote that “many women suffer from pain in their abdomens, backs, and legs during menstruation days”.

Furthermore, fatigue plays an important role during that period, the petitioner argues, arguing that women are not able to work as well as it is expected from them.

The goal of the signatories is not only to get two days off work, but also to avoid the “feeling of guilt” of presenting a medical certificate once pain appears.

The petition underlines that the initiative is not to be taken as a guaranteed excuse to get off work, but rather represent a chance for women to chose individually, and not force themselves to work while experiencing pain.

If the demand for two monthly days of leave is passed, it would mean that women no longer have to present medical certificates if they feel unable to come to work during menstruation.
