The Stafelter tunnel on the A7 motorway was completely closed to traffic in both directions at around 10am on Friday morning.

Following an enquiry with the police, RTL was informed that a fire alarm had been triggered, prompting the Traffic Control and Information Centre on Motorways (CITA) to apply the safety protocol.

It was also reported that a car had broken down inside the tunnel, with police and Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS) emergency services on site.

More information to follow shortly.
