Luxembourg's water authority gave the green light this Friday morning. Despite the official all-clear, the local municipality nevertheless decided to replace larger water pipes with new ones.
Mayor Romain Reitz conceded that they were aware of the fact that this project would take several months. He stressed that the water was clean and that its quality would be checked regularly.
The origin of the water's bacterial pollution remains unclear. Several people had fallen ill last year after drinking tap water. The local administration was also criticised for poor information and communication politics.
