There were two burglaries each in Luxembourg City, Dudelange, and Schifflange. Other homes targeted were in Rodange, Niederkorn, and Remich. Finally, a home in Bereldange was also broken into.
On their website, the Luxembourgish police explain that burglaries last an average of ten minutes or less. The police recommend residents, especially those in detached homes, invest in an alarm system. Finally, many burglaries take place in communal spaces in apartment buildings, such as garages.
The police recommend leaving a light on to dissuade burglars, especially during the winter's long nights. If you are going away on holiday, let a neighbour or friend know about your absence. The police also suggest that, if your windows show into your home, do not leave valuables in sight.
In the last week alone, there were four reports on spates of burglaries throughout the country.
