Luxembourg City's Belair district was the scene of a road accident involving a police vehicle on Tuesday evening. According to the police bulletin, the incident occurred at around 7.30pm at the intersection of Avenue du X Septembre and Boulevard Pierre Dupong.

Police officers were responding to an emergency call when their patrol car collided with another vehicle. The impact caused the police car to overturn and come to rest on its side. Both officers, as well as the woman driving the other car, were taken to hospital for precautionary medical checks.

Arrests around the country

Shortly afterwards in the Gare district, officers stopped a man on Rue de Strasbourg during a routine check. The individual was found to be the subject of an arrest warrant. Before being transferred to the Givenich Penitentiary Centre in Sanem, he was first examined by a doctor.

In a separate incident in Differdange, police arrested a suspect after a theft in a local shop. The individual had entered a staff-only area on Tuesday and stolen several handbags. An immediate search proved unsuccessful, but investigators were able to locate the man later on. The stolen goods were recovered and returned to their rightful owners. The public prosecutor's office was informed, and the suspect was brought before an investigating judge.
