The Culinary World Cup, one of the world's most prestigious cooking competitions, returns to Luxembourg this year.

Since its launch in 1972, the event has been held in the Grand Duchy every four years. This edition will see 20 national teams and 15 junior national teams compete in the culinary arena, alongside 28 regional teams and 15 teams specialising in community catering.

EXPOGAST’s organisers expect approximately 30,000 visitors over five days.

In addition to the main Culinary World Cup competition, the event will introduce new contest categories and a dedicated space for startups in the food sector.

For the competition, 14 fully equipped professional kitchens will be set up in the halls of Luxexpo.

Over the course of five days, chefs are expected to prepare around 5,000 menus and 17,000 individual dishes, all evaluated by an international jury of experts.

This year, a new highlight will be the Food Truck & Street Food Contest, featuring 15 teams who must each prepare 150 portions for the judging panel.

The gastronomy fair itself continues to expand, with more than 200 exhibitors present across 24,000 square metres.

For the first time, EXPOGAST will feature a Startup Village, giving young companies in gastronomy and food technology the opportunity to showcase their innovations.

The event is also putting an increased focus on business networking, with a dedicated 100-square-metre area where exhibitors, suppliers, and potential business partners can meet and connect.

Regional produce will also play a prominent role at EXPOGAST. Thirty-five Luxembourgish winemakers and 20 producers of local specialities will present their goods in a joint area covering 1,200 square metres.

While the event is geared towards professionals, EXPOGAST is also open to the public: visitors can watch chefs at work in the competition kitchens and sample their creations.

Dishes will be served in the Community Catering Restaurant and the Restaurant des Nations. Tickets for these menus go on sale at 3pm on 21 October via expogast.lu.

Visitors should act quickly; at the last edition, all menus sold out in just 10 minutes.
