EducationVirus activity remains high in Luxembourgish schools

The Ministry of Education shed light on the evolution of the virus in public schools between 16 and 22 November 2020.

During this period, the authorities reported:

- 479 positive cases corresponding to scenario 1 were counted in public and private schools, as well as in colleges and competence centres. This high number reflects the current presence of the virus in the country.
Scenario 1 being when a pupil or teacher is infected outside school, without the virus having spread within the school.

- 193 cases corresponding to scenario 2 were found in public and private schools, as well as colleges and in a competence centre.
Scenario 2 being when a maximum of two positive cases are recorded in a classroom with an uncertain or likely source of infection outside the classroom.

- 90 positive Scenario 3 cases were found in public and private schools and colleges. This scenario corresponds to when there are three to five cases in one class.

- During the reporting period, three schools found themselves in scenario 4. In total,  33 new positive cases were found in the concerned establishments during the week of 16-22 November 2020.
