On Monday, a draft law was discussed in the Chamber's commission for labour, employment and the social and solidarity economy that would allow to raise the maximum daily workload to 12 hours in some sectors.

This amounts to a 60-hour-week, a measure which is supposed to help fight the mounting challenges of the pandemic.

Minister Kersch explained it as a precautionary step.

The legal texts are set to pass a Chamber vote this week.
