Four to five individuals boarded a passenger ship in Remich early Monday morning, tearing chairs and tables from the vessel and throwing them into the Moselle river, according to the ship's operator.

A passenger ship in Remich was vandalised on Sunday night, with the culprits throwing chairs and tables into the Moselle river.

At around 2.30am on Monday morning, four to five individuals boarded a vessel operated by the "Navi-Tour" agency, according to agency operator Demi Krutwagen, who confirmed the incident to RTL following an enquiry.

CCTV footage shows the perpetrators tearing chairs and tables from the ship and throwing them into the river. They reportedly spent approximately ten minutes on board carrying out the vandalism.

Krutwagen stated that the full extent of the financial damage is not yet known. While the damaged ship remains operational, she said, it will now be able to carry fewer passengers than originally planned. She added that such an incident at the start of the tourist season is "not ideal."

The police have confirmed that they received reports of the incident and that those affected have been given an appointment to file a complaint.

The newspaper Luxemburger Wort was the first to report on the incident.
