The man was wanted under a European arrest warrant, as well as several other warrants in Germany.

On Tuesday morning, Luxembourg police handed over a 57-year-old German national to the German Federal Police from Trier, at the border crossing on the bridge in Wasserbillig.

The transfer followed a European arrest warrant issued by the Regional Court of Freiburg and a separate warrant for pre-trial detention from the District Court of Oberhausen.

In addition, two further national arrest warrants had been issued against the man, who had already been sentenced to 38 days in prison for obtaining services by fraud.

At the time of his arrest, he was also under investigation in three separate cases involving allegations of fraud and forgery.

The man first appeared before an investigating judge and was subsequently taken to prison.
