A Moldovan national was apprehended on Sunday by the police during a routine border check on the A 64 motorway. Authorities discovered that he had entered from Luxembourg illegally, and was sought by the Wiesbaden prosecutor’s office on theft charges. Unable to pay a fine of €1,350, he was subsequently imprisoned.
Following his 45-day sentence, officials will review the status of his residence permit.
