POLICE WARN OF TAMPERED ATMs – Police have received multiple reports of criminals tampering with ATMs to trap customers’ bank cards. The scammer then approaches, pretending to help, and asks the victim to re-enter their PIN to “unlock” the card. While this doesn’t release the card, it lets the criminal steal the PIN by observing the entry or tampering with the keypad.

EMBRAER EXPECTS LONG-TERM RELIABILITY FOR NEW LUXAIR FLEET – Although the E2 recently introduced by Luxair initially experienced some “operational challenges” and currently has a reliability rate of just 98%, Embraer expects that “over the course of operations, it will reach the global fleet reliability level of 99.4%.

CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST PEOPLE LIVING WITH DEMENTIA – In Luxembourg, more than 9,200 people live with dementia. Many of those affected withdraw after their diagnosis, out of insecurity or shame. Yet social contact is precisely what is important to maintain quality of life and to help ease symptoms, explains Christine Dahm-Mathonet, Director at the Infozenter Demenz. Organisations in Luxembourg are calling for volunteers to spend time with people living with dementia, as more than 9,200 residents affected by the condition face loneliness and social isolation.

NEPAL LAUNCHES CAMPAIGNS FOR POST-UPRISING POLLS – Nepali candidates launch their campaigns on Monday for next month’s parliamentary elections, the first since deadly anti‑corruption protests toppled the previous government in 2025. “This election will draw the future of the country”, Sushila Karki, who is serving as interim prime minister until the March 5 vote, said ahead of the launch.

RUBIO VISITS ORBAN AHEAD OF HUNGARY POLLS – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has arrived in Hungary for talks with Prime Minister Viktor Orban Monday, ahead of elections where the nationalist leader faces a significant challenge from the opposition. Rubio’s visit is the final stage of a whirlwind trip to Europe that also saw him address the Munich Security Conference and visit another right-wing ally, Slovakian Prime Minister Robert Fico.

OLYMPICSMatthieu Osch became the first Luxembourg athlete to compete at the 2026 Olympic Games, finishing 50th in the men’s giant slalom on Saturday. Wearing bib number 59, the 26-year-old alpine skiing specialist clocked 1'25'’06 in the first run, more than 11 seconds behind the fastest time of 1'13'’92, set by Brazil’s Lucas Pinheiro Braathen.

GOLF – Collin Morikawa claimed a tense victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in California on Sunday, fending off a final-day charge by top-ranked Scottie Scheffler that included three eagles. “It’s special for a lot of reasons”, said Morikawa, who used his win to announce that he and his wife are expecting their first child.

FOOTBALL – Corentin Tolisso scored as Lyon beat Nice 2-0 on Sunday to strengthen their grip on a top-three place in Ligue 1 and moved to within seven points of leaders Lens. A 13th straight win in all competitions also kept the seven-time French champions’ slim title hopes alive.
