Austrian club SKN Sankt Pölten confirmed on Tuesday that several players, including Luxembourg international Dirk Carlson, will be leaving the team. Carlson, who has earned 73 caps for the national side, has repeatedly stated his openness to seeking new challenges in his career. However, it remains unclear where he will continue his professional journey.

The 28-year-old defender joined Sankt Pölten in 2023 from Dutch second-division club ADO Den Haag. His career has also included spells in Germany’s 2. Bundesliga with Erzgebirge Aue and Karlsruher SC. The left-back began his international club career in 2018 after leaving Pétange to join the under-21 side of Grasshopper Zürich in Switzerland.

During the past season, Carlson and Sankt Pölten finished second in Austria's second division, narrowly missing out on promotion to the top flight.
