Dan Lorang and the Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe cycling team are parting ways after ten years. The 46-year-old Luxembourger’s adventure with the German-Austrian team will come to an end in late July.
Lorang is one of eight coaches at the team, which counts former world champion and Olympic gold medallist Remco Evenepoel as well as Florian Lipowitz – third in last year’s Tour de France – among its riders. Recently, Lorang has also been active at the Red Bull Athlete Performance Center.
Ralph Denk, CEO of Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe, thanked the Luxembourger on the team’s website. Denk stated that as the team’s first Performance Coach, Lorang has played a key role in the team’s journey to the top of the WorldTour since the 2017 season and has guided its athletes in their development.
Denk said he regrets Lorang’s decision but respects his desire for a change, adding that openness and fairness have always characterised their partnership. The statement concluded with Denk wishing Lorang “all the best for his future path outside of coaching and outside of our structure.”
