Luxembourg football is entering a new five-year development cycle as the federation looks to build on the progress made under its previous strategy.

The Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) said its new strategic plan, unanimously approved by the board of directors, would continue the direction set out for 2022 to 2026. Several initiatives were launched and developed during that period, while some objectives were even exceeded.

The FLF now wants to build on those results and pursue the further development of Luxembourg football in a coherent and ambitious way, the federation said in a statement.

Nine priorities

Over the next five years, the FLF will focus on nine key areas:

  • Talent development at the National Football Centre (CFN)
  • National competitions
  • Grassroots football and club development
  • Women's football
  • Social responsibility
  • Good governance
  • Marketing and communication
  • Digitalisation
  • Coach education and further development of refereeing

Through these priorities, the FLF aims to continue strengthening the structure of Luxembourg football and create the conditions needed for sustainable development, both on and off the pitch.

Clubs to play central role

Cooperation with clubs will be a central part of the new strategy, according to the FLF.

As the foundation of Luxembourg football, clubs play an essential role in organisation, volunteering, participation, and youth development. The FLF wants to strengthen its role as a development partner for clubs and make its services more readily available to them.

The federation said close and constructive cooperation would be necessary to drive progress throughout Luxembourg football.

The ultimate aim of the strategy is to develop a national game that continues to progress on the pitch while strengthening its clubs and bringing people together, ensuring Luxembourg football remains attractive and sustainable for future generations.
