We are looking for a Category Manager for one of our client based in Kirchberg (Luxembourg).

  • Permanent contract via a payrolling company or freelance contract (6 months renewable mission)
  • Annual gross salary : 100 000€ / Daily rate : 600€
  • English fluent is mandatory (German fluent is a strong asset)
  • Strong experience with energy procurement or a strong link to the energy sector

Key responsibilities :

  • Build rare, high‑value expertise in European energy markets by developing a deep understanding of market structures, regulatory change, energy policy, and commercial dynamics that directly influence procurement and cost decisions.
  • Work on decisions that materially affect cost, risk, and CO₂ outcomes through hands‑on involvement in renewable energy sourcing, hedging strategies, and decarbonisation pathways,
  • Strengthen your strategic and analytical credibility by producing structured, decision‑ready outputs (market reports, benchmarks, financial and operational models) that inform leadership and shape category strategies.
  • Grow your problem‑solving depth through stakeholder exposure by collaborating with internal teams and external partners to challenge assumptions, validate data, and co‑design robust solutions in complex energy environments.
  • Develop practical experience across sustainability and energy procurement tools including PPAs, energy risk management mechanisms, and sustainability initiatives, expanding your skillset beyond traditional category management.
  • Sharpen your executive‑level communication skills by translating complex market and technical insights into clear, concise PowerPoint, Excel, and written deliverables used in senior decision‑making contexts.

Required Skills & Experience :

  • Minimum 5 years experience in energy, utilities, sustainability, or environmental consulting.
  • Strong understanding of the European utility sector, including energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and market participants.
  • Experience working within or alongside a professional consulting environment (e.g., advisory, strategy, engineering, or sustainability consultancy).
  • Ability to analyse qualitative and quantitative data, identify key insights, and translate them into structured recommendations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to operate across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools such as Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with energy market data sources is an advantage.
