1,020 individuals submitted an application for international protection in Luxembourg until the end of October.
The figure more than halved compared to 2019. Most asylum seekers come from Syria, Eritrea, Iran, Albania, and other countries.
In 2020, the Immigration Directorate already took decisions in 1,356 cases. 677 people were granted the status of refugee, i.e. about half of all applicants.
84 returns were organised in Luxembourg in 2020, 60 of which were voluntary and 24 forced.
