
As is the case every month, ADEM released the current figures of job seekers in Luxembourg. Considering the ongoing crisis situation, it is worth noting that these figures reflect the situation on the 29 February, still unaffected by the latest events surrounding COVID-19.
Over the last year the number of job seekers increased by 1,144 people (7.4%). Statec, while adjusting for seasonal changes, calculated the unemployment rate of 5.5%.

During the month of February 2020, ADEM opened 2,193 new files for resident job seekers, a decrease of 12.9% compared to the same period in 2019.
The number of available non-resident job seekers registered with ADEM was 2,686 as of February 29, an increase of 0.5% compared to February 2019.
In addition, 546 new files of non-resident job seekers were opened, which again represents a decrease of 11.1% compared to February 2019.
During the month of February, employers declared 3,605 vacancies at ADEM, i.e. 369 positions or 11.4% more than in February 2019.
