The Skoda Tour de Luxembourg 2026 kicks off on Wednesday with the opening stage starting from Place Guillaume II in Luxembourg City.
Riders set off at 2.45pm and, after covering 157km, are expected to cross the finish line at the Marché-aux-Poissons around 6.30pm.
Commuters should anticipate major deviations and road closures in and around the capital during the evening rush hour, as summarised on vdl.lu.
The Automobile Club Luxembourg (ACL) has also issued detailed traffic advice on the disruptions. The opening stage on Wednesday, 16 September, begins at 2.45pm from Knuedler and concludes at approximately 6.30pm at the Marché-aux-Poissons.
The 157km race takes place in Eich, Stafelter, Larochette, Reisdorf, Vianden, Hoscheid, Bourscheid, Esch-sur-Sûre, Mertzig, Mersch, and Walferdange. Temporary road blockages and traffic delays should be expected throughout these areas, as police will close roads along the route roughly 10 minutes before the first riders arrive.
The second stage will take place on Thursday, departing from Niederkorn at 2.30pm and finishing in Junglinster after 167km. The race will pass through Leudelange, Hassel, Greiveldange, Wecker, Bech, Echternach, and Christnach before looping around Junglinster for the finish at approximately 6.30pm. On Friday, the third stage heads north, beginning in Wiltz at 2pm and running for 180km to Diekirch. The course will take riders through Esch-sur-Sûre, Weicherdange, Troisvierges, Weiswampach, Clervaux, Goesdorf, and Michelau before concluding with a circuit around Diekirch, where the finish is expected around 6.15pm. Saturday brings the individual time trial in and around Ettelbruck. The first rider leaves shortly after 4pm for the 20.4km course, with the last expected to finish by 6.25pm. The route covers Grenzen, Carlshof, Michelbouch, and Mertzig, returning to Ettelbruck. Details on when and where roads will be closed are available on ettelbruck.lu.
The fifth and final stage on Sunday covers 177km from Mersch to Limpertsberg in Luxembourg City. The race starts at 12.15pm, passing through Nommern, Gilsdorf, Brandenbourg, Wahlhausen, Kautenbach, Doncols, Koetschette, Redange sur Attert, Saeul, Quatre-Vents and Biergerkräiz before entering the circuit around Limpertsberg. After three laps, the stage winner will be decided just before 5pm in front of the Victor Hugo Hall. All road closure information is published on vdl.lu.
