RTL Today
The latest infection numbers in schools were communicated by the Ministry of Education on Thursday night.

As a reminder, there are four scenarios for the cause and spread of infection.

  • Scenario 1 - children and young people being infected outside school without the spread of the virus at school
  • Scenario 2 - covers a maximum of 2 positive cases in a class with a source of uncertain or likely infection outside the class
  • Scenario 3 - covers the chain of infections with several cases linked by an intra-school infection
  • Scenario 4 - several classes affected and/or class has more than five infections

A total of 758 infections were reported in schools between 30 November and 6 December. The vast majority were of one isolated case per class, with 641 in all.

83 infections fell under scenario 2, meaning a maximum of 2 cases in a class.

There were 20 infections under scenario 3, with 3 to 5 cases in a class.

Finally, there were two infection chains in two primary school classes. Both of these started with the reported infection of a teacher. The subsequent tests found 7 further infections among students in each case.

Students from quatrième upwards have been on alternate weekly homeschooling since 30 November.
