Firefighters were called to the neuro-psychiatric hospital in Ettelbruck shortly before 8pm on Friday, with a fire reported in one of the rooms.

Police indicated that the fire started on the third floor of the establishment, with patients evacuated from the area before it became dangerous. All patients were able to return to their rooms following the fire service's intervention.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.

OTHER INCIDENTS

Police performed a reported 520 checks on drivers overnight in Ettelbruck, Hoscheid-Dickt and Diekirch. 7 of these were found to be over the alcohol limit, which led to 8 cautions and 2 fines being issued.

Alcohol checks were equally carried out on Route d'Arlon in Capellen. 3 out of 75 drivers had high alcohol levels, which resulted in 2 verbal warnings, but no licences were confiscated.

4 young people reported that they had been assaulted and robbed by multiple individuals in Parc Monterrey, Luxembourg City on Friday night around 10.45pm. One of the victims was forced to withdraw money from a cash machine by one of the aggressors.

Finally, a fight involving between 20 and 30 people was reported in Esch-sur-Alzette. Upon arrival at the scene, police noted that tensions were heightened between the individuals present. One person then assaulted police officers and was consequently arrested. The authorities confirmed that no one was seriously injured in the incident.
