HealthAll hospitals are well-equipped to deal with Dengue fever

RTL Today
Minister of Health Paulette Lenert provided this information in her response to a respective parliamentary enquiry from MPs André Bauler and Gilles Baum from the Democratic Party.

All Luxembourgish hospitals, and especially the national service for infectious diseases at CHL, are well-equipped to treat patients infected with Dengue fever.

As of late, the viral infection, mostly transmitted by mosquitos, has seen a renewed outbreak in India. Southern European states are also prone to experience cases of Dengue fever. At CHL, travellers returning from said regions are regularly treated, Minister Lenert further conveyed.

The Health Directorate currently plans a cooperative project with the Museum of Natural History and a Swiss expert to launch a type of mosquito atlas. So far, the Asian tiger mosquito (aedes albopictus), which is the main spreader of Dengue fever, has never been identified in the Grand Duchy.
