
In the night of 31 december 2021 to 1 January 2022, the police received around 60 calls. A large proportion of the calls were about fireworks or noise in connection with private parties.
In addition there were a lot of of drivers on the road who had drunk too much. At around 00.30 the police noticed a car on the N7 in the entrance to Hosingen with its indicators on, no number plates and a flat tyre. In addition, the car was also damaged at the front. The driver’s alcohol test was positive and his driving licence was taken away on the spot.
Shortly after 1 a.m., a driver zigzagged in his car on Avenue J.-F. Kennedy in Luxembourg-City. Here too, too much alcohol was involved and the driver’s licence was gone.
Shortly after 4 o’clock, the police received a report of an accident in Schengen near the vineyards. The result of the alcohol test was also positive for this driver and his licence was taken away.
In the city, there were also robberies. In the Rue Aldringen, a person was robbed of a gold chain. On Thursday evening, two men had already hit another person. When the police arrived, it turned out that the victim’s wallet had been stolen. The victim was taken to hospital and the police were able to arrest the two suspects shortly afterwards.
Burglars were also on the loose on Saturday night. In Erpeldange near Wiltz and in Bridel, objects were stolen from houses.
