This agreement secures the right for Cargolux to land in Uzbekistan's capital Tashkent. For the Luxembourgish cargo airline, this could be an important stopover point for flights into and out of East Asia.

According to the authorities, the wide-spread practice of child labour in the cotton industry is also being combated through education programs.
In addition, led by Luxembourg, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is currently running a seminar in Tashkent on the topic of fighting against corruption. The seminar is directed at representatives from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, among others.
